Taylor-Joy is one of the five children, four come from her father's previous marriage. They lived at Buenos Aires until she was six then relocated to the Victoria area in London. Taylor Joy stated that moving from Buenos Aires to Victoria was difficult and she didn't learn English, hoping to go again to Argentina. She had to switch schools between Northlands in order to attend Hill House. She enrolled later at Queen's Gate School in which she was a ballet student and took part in school productions. In her 16th year she decided to leave school in order to pursue acting as a career. Taylor-Joy's desire to become a professional actress began at a very young age.
